In 2016, Sculpture Saint John hosted the third International Sculpture Symposium. The public was invited to the Saint John waterfront to watch world-class artists sculpt art out of our local granite. The resulting sculptures are on display in communities across our province, and our New Brunswick Sculpture Trail connects with the one in Maine to make the International Sculpture Trail.
Symphony New Brunswick celebrated the occasion by having a poetry competition. The winning entry was Maritime Melange by Beth Weatherbee. Her poem was read at a concert on the Saint John Waterfront accompanied by the music of Andrew Miller, bassist of the Symphony.
That poem is now illustrated by the photography of Shannon Williams in this book.
